Ancient Chariots Across Civilizations
Chariots were a common sight in ancient civilizations worldwide. In China, their use in warfare dates back to the Xia, Shang, and Zhou dynasties.
Typically, an ancient chariot setup included two or four warhorses and three chariot soldiers. These soldiers had distinct roles:
- One soldier was the charioteer (driver).
- Another held a shield and a long戟 (halberd).
- The third wielded a longbow.
Each chariot was accompanied by a contingent of 22 infantry soldiers. Their job was to protect the chariot and ensure it could operate effectively in battle.
However, chariots had their limitations. They were primarily effective in flat, open terrain like plains. Because of this topographical restriction, chariots were gradually replaced by cavalry during the late Warring States period in China.

This product is made from aerospace-grade metal offcuts—leftover materials from precision machining.
Though small in size, these offcuts are still high quality but too tiny for larger components. Typically, they’re melted down for recycling—a process that consumes a lot of energy and isn’t eco-friendly.
Metal Arts takes a sustainable approach by repurposing these offcuts into unique designs, preserving original machining marks and holes.
What was once destined for the furnace is now reborn with creativity and cultural meaning—each piece one of a kind.
